Dear <PREFERRED_FIRST_NAME>:

You are receiving this email because your cumulative GPA is currently less than 2.0 and based on your scholastic standards appeal you were given one more semester with probation academic standing. We believe that you have been identifying areas where you may have experienced challenges and are determining how best to address them to return in good standing. We are here to help.

At the same time, the university is aware that current challenges of remote learning may be undesirably impacting your academic success. Consequently, the Faculty Council Scholastic Standards Committee and Provost Office adjusted the academic policies based on the COVID-19 situation for Spring 2020.

This scholastic standing policy change will only help your academic standing. In other words, if you raise your grades to a cumulative 2.0 GPA at the end of Spring 2020, you will regain good academic standing. If your cumulative GPA is below a 2.0 after Spring 2020, your academic standing will continue as probation for Fall 2020. Consequently, you will automatically have an opportunity to raise your GPA in Fall 2020. Other academic policy changes are mentioned below.*

*The deadline for course withdrawal has been extended to May 8th and you have until June 5th to decide on changing to a S (satisfactory)/ U (unsatisfactory) grade rather than a traditional letter grade for any course.
