Dear <PREFERRED_FIRST_NAME>:
You are receiving this email because your cumulative GPA is currently less than 2.0 and your academic standing is probation. We believe that you have been identifying areas where you may have experienced challenges and are determining how best to address them to return in good standing. We are here to help.
At the same time, the university is aware that current challenges of remote learning may be undesirably impacting your academic success. Consequently, the Faculty Council Scholastic Standards Committee and Provost Office adjusted the academic policies based on the COVID-19 situation for Spring 2020.
This scholastic standing policy change will only help your academic standing. In other words, if you raise your grades to a cumulative 2.0 GPA at the end of Spring 2020, you will regain good academic standing. If your cumulative GPA is below a 2.0 after Spring 2020 you will remain in the probation process, but Spring 2020 will not impact your academic standing as first or second semester of probation. That is, if your academic standing is currently the first semester of probation, you will not advance to the second semester of probation, and if your academic standing is the second semester of probation, you will not be academically dismissed. Instead, you will automatically have an opportunity to raise your GPA in Fall 2020. Other academic policy changes are also mentioned below.*
We strongly encourage you to connect with your Academic Success Coordinator/Academic Advisor to discuss your current academic experiences and how these adjusted policies impact you. Contact information for your Academic Success Coordinator\ Academic Advisor is available on RAMweb or by contacting your academic department. You can also contact Juan Rivas, Collegiate Success Coach in the Collaborative for Student Achievement by calling 970-491-7095 or by email at Juan.Rivas@colostate.edu.
We look forward to working with you and are confident we will one day celebrate your graduation from CSU. Remember- Rams take care of Rams.
Sincerely,
Gaye G. DiGregorio
Executive Director, The Collaborative for Student Achievement
Acting on Behalf of the Committee on Scholastic Standards
